Blustery North Winds Bring Weights to Scale
On January 28th the Futrell Marine Tournament Trail made it's first stop of the 2012 year at Lake Greeson.
A cold, blustery, north, wind greeted the 44 boats at the 7am take off. The cold gave away to an afternoon high in the mid 50s. The rain from the previous days only made for some dingy water as the lake only came up minimal.
The team of Matt Mize and Gerade Coulter took first place with a 5 fish limit weighing 20.18. First place was worth $2000 to the winners!
2nd place went to the team of Brandon Vines and Kevin Brown with a weight of 17.27.
3rd place went to the team of Trent Owens and Brandon Bean with a weight of 17.26.
4th place went to Spencer Shuffield, who was fishing solo, with a weight of 16.58.
5th place was Cody Kemp and Greg Carpenter with a limit weighing 11.70.
6th place was Tony Chesshir with a limit weighing 11.40.
7th place was Robbye Westfall and Chris Stinnett weighing 11.35.
Trent Owens and Brandon Bean caught a 6.61 lb. lunker to win the Big Bass which is sponsored by American Termite and Pest Control.
2nd place Big Bass went to Matthew Goddard and Kerry Barnett with a weight of 5.38.
3rd place Big Bass went to Spencer Shuffield with a weight of 4.92.
Diamond City Trailers once again sponsored 20th place which was worth $100 and Swaha Marine sponsored the smallest stringer weighed which went to the lucky duo of Tony Hodge and Mike Deal.
The Diamond Bank Anglers of the Year Race will move to Lake Oauchita next month for a second stop of the Tournament Trail on February 18th at Mountain Harbor Resort.
